Kindness Rocks

Have you heard about the kindness rocks movement ?! You probably will soon. These are local communities of people who paint creative and inspiring rocks, and then leave them around town. Locals interested can get clues as to where they're hidden, if your lucky enough to have a local Facebook group. How cool is this ?! There's nothing like spreading positivity and love these days.

I was interested in learning to paint the rocks because I just thought they were pretty, unique and that it would be a fun hobby. I kept putting in on the back burner, eventually I'd get to it. It was recently that I found out about the whole kindness movement, and decided it was time to hop on board !!

First step, collecting rocks ! I went to Ordiorne Point State Park in Rye, NH over the weekend. It was still a bit chilly for me, but I had a good time with Bill. Did you know that if your walking on the rocks there, there are little black spiders all over the place ?! Spiders on the beach, really ?!

In addition to getting rocks, I wanted to check out the abandoned bunkers. We found one, and there was no way inside. We decided that would be another trip when it gets warmer out.

So, I've got my rocks. Now, the tools !! Basically any craft paints, paint brushes, tray, rag, and doting tools. I got all these at Michael's crafts store. I forgot to add the clear spray topcoat sealer. The one I have is from Mod Podge.

First, I started with just painting the center black, in the main shape of the rock.

These are my first three, so I decided to use my stencils of my three cats paws. That's Misha, then Molly in the middle, and Moose.

I added the circle dots with the eraser from a pencil, then 2 different size doting tools.

I think I did OK for my first few, what do you think ?

I added some round crystal stickies, just because everyone loves some bling right ?! Next time, if I do add crystals, I will spray the top seal coat first, then add the bling. It kind of made them not as shiny.

This is the final product, all done !!  Three kindness rocks ready to be hidden for when someone finds them, hopefully it puts a smile on their face. :)

I am hoping to find a local Facebook group for the Haverhill, MA / Plaistow, NH area. If you know of one, please let me know. I will now start working on those beautiful spiral mandala ones that got me hooked. Stay tuned !!
